enduro day on a big smelly bike....

oh boy do i ache today....took my 450 ktm exc out for its first full on enduro course, started off in a couple of fields looping back and forth with some small rocky technical sections then up a rocky road which was very steep with rocks and boulders everywhere, a few bikes didn't make the climb and there were bikes all over the place, but my KTM just took it in it's stride.then out onto open fields with full out blasting with some nice jumps (this was about 1 1/2 miles) then down a long adverse camber before droping into singlee track woodland with deep rutts climbs, tree stumps this section was approx a mile long with bodies and bikes coming off every where.....did about 8 laps in all. before stoppping to get ready for the mini race ..

Race time came and approx 50 bikes gathered in the field..i choose to start at the back and let the loons go off in front.

Flag went for the start so i let them go and started to make my way around the filed, taking about 20 people in the process, it was just then a case of passing people etc, when the field spread out yo might pass some one then 300mts away you'd see the next person and catch up and take them...

4 laps into the hour race i was going well but feeling the tiredness of the day, then on a fast section my bike spluttered, Doh didn't put enough fuel in...decided then as i was on reserve (1 litre) to retire, but i was a the furthest point on the track so pressed on, but with a combination of being tired and slowing down i took a fall and ended up under the bike, on the egde of a 40 ft sheer drop!!!

Luky escape...a marshall came past and got the bike off me, and i carried on to the pits and collased in a big heap knackered..if i'd lasted the whole hour i think i wuld have been top 10 (according to nick )

top day, recommend it to anyone (they hire bikes you know)

took 3 rs just to get the mud off..was going to race today but to knackered..

Oh yes me and nick started the day of riding together then the red mist came down and off i went, 1/4 way round on lap two and i lapped nick, who then blew his bike up on the monster hill!!
